BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Adrian Contreras of the Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis program was recognized as the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week based off his outing this past week.

Contreras earned two singles victories during the week beginning against the University of Montevallo's Viktor Ek Johansson 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 and it was followed by a 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 win over No. 10 Lee University's Wihan Van Der Merwe on court four. 

Contreras and his doubles partner Muhamad Bedwan took down Lee's Mike Groenendijk and Quinn Groenendijk 6-3 on the second court. 

The freshman returns to action with the AUM men's tennis team on Thursday, April 20 against sixth-seeded Mississippi College at the O'Connor Tennis Center in Montgomery, Alabama at 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the GSC Championships.
