OXFORD, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team is set to open the 2023 Gulf South Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 3 as the fourth-seed taking on the fifth-seed Valdosta State University at 3:30 p.m. at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.
The Warhawks finished the regular season with a 33-15 overall record and 22-7 in GSC action. They are currently sitting in the eighth spot in the NCAA South Region Rankings prior to the conference tournament.
Freshman
Chloe Baynes leads Auburn Montgomery with a .412 batting average and 63 hits. She has crossed home plate 40 times.
Allie Miller has the second best batting average on the team at .392. Miller has scored the most runs of any Warhawk at 43.
Chloe Derrick is first on the team in homers at 11, followed by
Kat Fallen and
Gia Martin at nine on the year. Fallen tallies a team-high of 49 runs batted in.

Avery Dickerson (14-4) has tossed 106.2 innings and has allowed 38 earned runs on 94 hits. She has struck 58 batters out.
Morgan Ferguson (12-5) has been strong working 119.2 innings and allowing 48 earned runs on 92 hits. She has retired 97 batters on strikes.

GSC IN THE NCAA SOUTH REGION
AUM enters the conference tournament ranked No. 8 in the region and will have an opportunity against the fourth-ranked Blazers. UAH is ranked No. 3, Mississippi College is No. 5, University of West Alabama is No. 7 regionally.
