MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Auburn University at Montgomery head cross country coach
Ryan Thompson has announced the 2023 schedule.
"There is quite a bit of anticipation for the 2023 season," Thompson said. "The women return almost everyone from their fourth place squad last year at the Gulf South Conference Championships and have added some key depth. The men have reloaded with some top talent and will look to make a strong statement on October 21."
The Warhawks open the 2023 campaign at the Foothills Invitational (Sept. 1) in Oxford, Alabama on the Choccolocco Park course and the Southern Showcase (Sept. 15) at John Hunt Park in Hunstville, Alabama. Both meets are hosted by Jacksonville State University.
AUM closes the month of September at the Florida State Seminoles Invitational (Sept. 29) in Tallahasse, Florida.
The Warhawks open October at the Royals' Challenge (Oct. 6) in Charlotte, North Carolina at McAlpine Creek Park. Two weeks later the GSC Championship (Oct. 21) takes place at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama at 8:30 a.m.
The NCAA South Region Championship (Nov. 4) is in Montevallo, Alabama this season on the University of Montevallo's campus.
"The way this schedule has been arranged, we should know pretty early on our team dynamic." Thompson said. "The first meet of the year will merely serve as a rust buster, but then each subsequent race will put us in a position to race quality competition. This is probably the toughest schedule we have put together, but also the most exciting!"
