Warhawks Sixth in 2022-2023 NCAA Division II Community Service Hours

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Behind six teams ranked in the top 10 in their respective sport, the Auburn University at Montgomery athletic department turned in a sixth overall ranking in community service hours according to the 2022-2023 HelperHelper report that was released by the organization.

From volunteering at local schools to organizing fundraising events for charities and everything in between, student-athletes have demonstrated their commitment to making a positive
impact beyond the field of play.

"I am very proud of our coaches and student-athletes for their commitment to serving the AUM and River Region communities," said Associate Director of Athletics Amber Rae Childers. "The number six finish among our DII peers demonstrates the culture of service promoted within the Warhawk community, which our student-athletes put into action.
We look forward to another great year of serving our community and inviting the community in for youth days and other promotional events at our competitions."

Across all NCAA Divisions, student-athletes compiled 428,599 community service hours across 13,536 opportunities. 43,310 student-athletes participated across the country and helped make a $13.6 million economic impact through the various service opportunities.

"Our student-athletes and teams are a testament to the ability to pursue excellence while serving others," said Childers. "Many Warhawk teams topped the scales for hours served in their sport while also competing in the post-season."

On the women's side, the AUM women's tennis team finished the year ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II for team service hours. The women's basketball team finished No. 5, while the AUM women's soccer team closed the year in eighth.

On the men's side, the AUM tennis team also held the top overall spot for service hours in Division II. The Warhawks' baseball squad finished the season ranked No. 4 among Division II schools, and the men's basketball team closed the year at No. 5. The men's soccer team also finished 10th overall in Division II.
