Bretwisch Surpasses 1,500 Assists at AUM, Warhawks Sweep CBU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Amber Bretwisch of the Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball squad eclipsed 1,500 assists since she has been a Warhawk as they took down Christian Brothers University 3-0 on Friday night inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a Gulf South Conference match.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • AUM came out of the gate red hot jumping to an 11-2 lead off a 10 point rally led by Kaleigh Fitzgerald. A kill by Greta Corrente extended the Warhawk lead and it followed by a service ace from Myllena Torquetti to push the lead to 17-7. CBU trimmed the lead down, but a kill from Ruth Sconocchini gave the Warhawks a 25-18 victory in set one. 
  • The Warhawks took an early 7-2 lead in set two that consisted of a kill from Giulia Santuari. Later in the set, Bretwisch posted a service ace to make it 17-9. Auburn Montgomery closed the set off a service ace from Corrente to make it 25-14 and take a 2-0 lead in the match. 
  • The Lady Bucs challenged AUM in the third set, by taking a 7-4 lead. The Warhawks bounced back with a seven point rally lead by Torquetti and it began with a kill from Keren Santana. AUM had a 7-1 run that featured back-to-back kills from Kendall McCain and AUM found themselves with a 19-9 lead. Santuari ended the match with a kill and AUM took set three 25-14. 
STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Bretwisch is now at 1,507 assists as a member of the Auburn Montgomery volleyball squad after posting 17 assists and eight digs. 
  • Sconocchini led the Warhawks with nine kills on 19 attacks. 
  • Fitzgerald was strong defesnively with 11 digs and had four service aces. 
  • Savannah Sebek chipped in with eight assists. 
  • The Warhawks as a team had seven solo blocks, which is tied for the most this season. Kyla Ffrench led the way with three. 
UP NEXT

The Warhawks return to the AUM Athletics Complex on Saturday, September 30 against Union University for Youth Day in a GSC matchup.
