ALBANY, Ga - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team battled Albany State University on the road Monday night at the HPER Complex and earned a 3-1 win in the nonconference matchup.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Alessia Cappai, Myllena Torquetti, Ruth Sconocchini, and Giulia Santuari all had a pair of kills in the first set. AUM utilized a 9-2 run to help push the set open and eventually earned the 25-16 victory in the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  
• Albany State jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set and held the lead the rest of the way. The Golden Rams took the second set 25-16 and evened the match at 1-1. 
• The third set was back-and-forth as neither team gained momentum. The Warhawks held a 13-12 lead and an attack error on the Golden Rams gave the Warhawks energy and took the largest lead of the set at 16-12. ASU battled back and tied the set at 17. AUM rattled off five consecutive points to help take the set and retake a 2-1 lead in the match. 
• in set four, the two teams battled it out and with Auburn Montgomery holding onto a 13-12 lead they sparked a 12-4 run to close the match and took the 3-1 victory. 

STATS OF THE MATCH

• Cappai finished with 13 kills and 12 digs. 
• Amber Bretwisch posted 12 digs and dished out 17 assists. 
• Kaleigh Fitzgerald tallied 15 digs, five asssits, and a pair of service aces. 
• Maya Thompson had three kills and and six block assists. 
• Torquetti led the Warhawks in solo blocks with two and also had six kills, finishing with nine points. 

UP NEXT

The Warhawks travel to the Rollins College Invitational in Winter Park, Florida. The Warhawks are scheduled to play Florida Tech on Friday, September 8 at Noon.
