MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team took a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sunshine State Conference foe Lynn University on Friday night at the AUM Athletics Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Lynn was on the attack at the outset of the match, with a pair of early shots on goal, but AUM goalkeeper Karla Gaytan was up to the task.
- A handball from the Warhawks in the 16th minute yielded a Lynn penalty kick and the Fighting Knights converted to take a 1-0 lead.
- AUM responded by building up some attacks in the next handful of match minutes, but to no avail as the Lynn defense gained the upper hand.
- The 62nd minute saw Lynn add to its lead. Off a corner kick, Brisa Sastre had a header deflected before she cleaned up her own shot with a laser that glanced in off the left post.
- AUM had a late shot by Sydney Garth in the 81st minute, but it glanced wide right of goal as the match settled 2-0 in favor of the Fighting Knights.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lynn posted nine shots on goal to just a pair for AUM. Lynn outshot the Warhawks in total 15-7.
- Goalkeeper Karla Gaytan added seven more saves and stands tied for second in the GSC in that category. She also ranks second with 5.33 saves per contest.
UP NEXT
AUM continues its six-game homestand at the AUM Soccer Complex on Sunday, September 10 at 1 p.m. as they play host to Albany State University for Youth Day. Youth in attendance, plus one parent, get free admission. There will also be an autograph session after the match.
