MOBILE, Ala. - The AUM women's soccer team traveled to Spring Hill for a Gulf South Conference matchup on Friday that resulted in a 2-1 loss.
AUM (2-6-2, 0-4-1) recorded just five shots, with three on goal. Spring Hill (5-4-2, 2-2-2) finished with 18 shots total and nine on goal as they scored a goal in both the first and second half.
AUM entered Friday's match with an 11-1-1 record all-time with Spring Hill. The Badgers got out to an early lead in this meeting with a goal in the 25
th minute by Poppy Binding. It would be the lone score in the first half of play.
The Warhawks evened the game with a late goal by
Michaelyn Manning in the 83
rd minute. A cross from
Aurora Gobbi led to the header for Manning's third goal of the season.
The Badger's, Binding would score a pair of goals in Friday's match to push Spring Hill to a 2-1 victory over AUM. Her second goal came in the 87
th minute on a free kick that deflected off the post and into the net.
Karla Guzman-Ortiz recorded seven more saves for AUM on Friday to put her in the league lead at 60 on the year.
AUM will return to action Sunday, October 13 when the squad plays West Florida. Kick off in Pensacola, Florida is set for 12:30 p.m. Central Time.
