VALDOSTA, Ga. - The AUM women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 road loss to Valdosta State at The Complex on Tuesday. The Lady Blazers won with set scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18.
AUM (5-15, 2-9 Gulf South) totaled 27 kills and hit .017.Â
Kendall McCain led the Warhawks with seven kills, while
Emily Brown and
Maya Thompson had five each.
VSU (11-8, 5-4) was paced by Mackenzie Murray's match-high 10 kills. The Lady Blazers hit .233 and finished with seven blocks and 57 digsÂ
The Warhawks fell behind early in the first set before mounting a rally. AUM pulled to within 23-19 with a 9-1 stretch before VSU won the set with two points. In the second set, AUM was lead 6-5 and then it was tied at 8-8. VSU then used two 5-0 streaks to claim control. The third set went back and forth for the early portion of the stanza and saw VSU leading 15-14. The home team then had a few extra points and pulled away by scoring seven of the final nine points.
AUM will return to play this weekend, traveling to West Alabama on Friday and Mississippi College on Saturday.
