MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM women's soccer team would get the win on senior night over Christian Brothers 1-0 after
Reia Henry delivered the game-winning goal in the 89
th minute.
AUM (4-7-2, 2-6-1) recorded 11 shots, with five on goal while Christian Brothers (0-13, 0-9) finished with 12 shots total and seven on goal.
Senior night at AUM Soccer Complex came down to the very last minute and was worth the wait as the Warhawk Senior
Reia Henry was able to make a lasting impact.
AUM and Christian Brothers started scoreless after the first 45 minutes at AUM Soccer Complex.
Karla Guzman-Ortiz added to her save total with four in the first half to hold the Blazers scoreless despite their nine shots. The Warhawk goalie came into the contest with 74 saves on the year to lead the GSC.
Senior
Reia Henry's fifth goal on the season would be her biggest yet as it proved to be the difference Friday night. She delivered the game-winning goal in the 89
th minute to push the Warhawks over the Blazers. A loose ball pulled the goalie out of the box and allowed for Henry to capitalize.
Marta Gonzalez logged a full 90 minutes on senior night as the Warhawks held on to get the win and improve in the GSC standings with the regular season winding down.
AUM will return to action Sunday, October 27 for the final home contest of the regular season against Union. Kick off in Montgomer3, Alabama is set for 1 p.m. p.m. Central Time.
