MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM men's soccer team scored three goals off set pieces in a 3-0 victory over Union at the AUM Soccer Complex on Sunday.
AUM (7-2-5, 5-2-2 Gulf South) clinched a berth in the GSC Championship as it moved into a tie for third place in the league standings with 17 points.
On Sunday, AUM was the aggressor from the opening kick off. The Orange and Black got on the scoreboard in the 19th minute when
Logan Roach passed a corner kick to Andrew Straight who lofted a 25-yarder into the top corner of the goal for his first goal of the season.
That's the way it stood through the end fo the first half with AUM holding a 7-1 edge in shots.
Eight minutes after half time, it was Strait who received a throw-in from
Landon Surratt and sent the ball into the box where
Yanis Lasri flicked it home for a 2-0 lead. It was Lasri's second strike of the year.
The Warhawks made it 3-0 in the 66th minute on another Roach corner kick. This time it was
Benjamin Hoffman who had a blind header in traffic to score his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
William Blake stopped the only shot on goal from the Bulldogs for his fourth shutout in 2024.
AUM finished with an 18-2 shots advantage and 8-1 in shots on goal.
The Warhawks will play at Delta State on Friday and Mississippi College on Sunday to conclude the regular-season. Both games will start at 3:30 p.m. The GSC Quarterfinals are on Saturday, Nov. 9 and top four teams in the standings will host games on campus..
