This Week in AUM Athletics: OCT. 28-NOV. 3

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Each week, the Auburn University at Montgomery Office of Athletics Communications previews the upcoming week with “This Week in AUM Athletics.” We've got three home events scheduled with Volleyball hosting a pair of matches and an open scrimmage for women's basketball, while men's and women's soccer wrap up the regular season on the road. Senior night for men's and women's cross-country is set for Friday, November 1 at the AUM Athletics Complex.

THIS WEEK IN AUM ATHLETICS (October 28 - November 3)

  • Women's Volleyball hosts a pair of matches this week, starting with Christian Brothers on Friday and Union on Saturday.
  • AUM sits at 7-15 on the season and 4-9 in GSC play.
  • Christian Brothers is 6-17 overall and 2-11 in GSC play. The Bucs average a near 11 assists per set for the fourth lowest in the conference.
  • AUM leads the all-time series 5-4, but lost the last meeting earlier this season.
  • Union sits at 3-10 in GSC play with a 5-17 record overall.
  • The Herons allow the highest hitting percentage to opposing teams at .239 percentage.

  • AUM is currently 4-8-2 overall and 2-7-1 in GSC play. The Warhawks picked up the win on senior night after Reia Henry scored a game-winning goal.
  • They will travel for a pair of conference matches this weekend at Delta State and Mississippi College. 
  • The Warhawks have scored 20 goals for a 1.43 goals per game average. They are recording eight shots per game with 50 percent of those on goal.
  • Laia Gonzalez leads the team with six goals and has the fourth most in the conference.
  • Karla Guzman-Ortiz has recorded 80 saves on the season to lead the way in GSC.

  • The Warhawks are now 7-2-5 overall and 5-2-2 in the league. AUM will play a pair of games this week on the road, traveling to Delta State and Mississippi College.
  • AUM clinched a spot in the GSC Championship. 
  • Landon Surratt is one of the top defenders in the GSC and leads the GSC with six assists. Benjamin Hoffman is one of the top freshman as well, with six goals to rank sixth in the conference.
  • Delta State is 2-3-4 and 3-4-7 overall on the season.
  • Mississippi College sits at 5-3-1 and 7-4-2 overall and has also scored 33 goals on the year for the second most in the GSC.

  • AUM women's basketball enters the season with first year head coach, Ashlee Phillips. The Warhawks were selected fifth in the GSC preseason coaches poll, its highest since joining the NCAA.
  • Allasha Dudley was named to the preseason All-GSC team after earning All-GSC First Team selection last season.
  • They will host Bishop State for the first open scrimmage of the season on Tuesday at AUM Athletics Complex.
  • The Warhawks will travel to Americus, Ga. for another scrimmage with Georgia Southwestern on Saturday Nov. 2 before the start of the regular season.
