LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The AUM women's soccer team continued Gulf South Conference play on Friday with a 2-2 tie on the road at West Alabama.
AUM (2-4-2, 0-3-1) recorded 13 shots, with nine on goal and five points in Friday's match. West Alabama (1-4-2, 0-2-2) finished with 14 shots total and nine on goal as they scored a goal in both halves.
The Warhawks were tested early in this conference road matchup after falling behind 1-0 in just the 9
thminute. Freshman
Lucy Thomas would even the match for AUM with a goal in the 17
th minute.
AUM captured the lead in the 58
th minute to take a 2-1 advantage against West Alabama. A free kick and assist from
Chloe Wallace led to a header goal for
Lana Collado Lopez, her first career goal as a Warhawk.
West Alabama delivered an equalizer in the 84
th minute to secure the tie, their second in conference play. A corner kick and assist from Selis Demirici led to the late game goal from Lily Graham.
AUM set a new team high this season with nine shots on goal in Friday's 2-1 victory over West Alabama.
AUM will return to action Sunday, October 6 when the squad hosts Alabama Huntsville. Kick off in Montgomery, Alabama is set for 1 p.m. Central Time.
