CLEVELAND, Miss. - The AUM women's soccer team was defeated on the road at Delta State, 2-0, on Friday afternoon.
AUM (4-9-2, 2-8-1) recorded seven shots with two on goal, while Delta State (5-4-5, 4-3-4) finished with 22 shots total and eight on goal.
Delta State started the scoring in Friday's match with a goal in the 27
th minute to take a 1-0 lead over AUM. Ava Webster would deliver on an assist from Robyn Moody, her fourth goal of the season to lead the Lady Statesmen.
A corner kick at the 34-minute mark would put the Warhawks down by a pair of goals. Moody picked up her second assist of the game after Chloe Jackson received the corner kick and headed it in.
The second half started scoreless for both sides. AUM threatened to score on a free kick, but the goal was taken away due to an offsides call. Delta State was able to control possession and run the clock out from there to hold on for the 2-0 victory.
AUM will conclude its season on Sunday, November 3 on the road at Mississippi College. Kick off in Clinton, Miss. is set for 12 p.m. Central Time.
