MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The AUM women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Montevallo at the Central State Bank Arena on Thursday.
AUM (10-18, 7-12 Gulf South) hit just .092 in the contest.
Maya Thompson led the team with 12 kills and seven block assists.
UM (11-18, 8-11) posted a .209 hitting pct. and got 15 kills from Katie Wilkerson. The Falcons also had 13 blocks to nine for the Warhawks.
Set 1
It was a tale of two halves to begin the match, with the Falcons controlling the first half before the Warhawks staged a big comeback for a 25-23 win. UM grabbed a 6-1 lead and was ahead 22-17 when the AUM comeback hit full speed.
Campbell Gash served five-consecutive points as the Warhawks hit .265 in the set.
Set 2
UM had control of the second set, jumping out to an 8-2 lead. AUM hit just .088 with eight attack errors while UM hit .188 and evened the match with a 25-19 decision.
Set 3
AUM scored three-in-a-row to grab the momentum with a 9-7 lead. The Falcons used a 5-2 run to grab an 18-14 edge. They closed the match with two service aces and a block among a 4-1 stretch for a 25-19 victory.
Set 4
AUM got out fast by scoring the first five points in the fourth. UM came back and took a 10-9 lead before the teams began trading side outs. The Warhawks grabbed a 22-20 lead on a 4-0 run before the Falcons tied it at 22. After trading points, UM scored the final three to win the match, 25-23.

AUM will travel to Alabama Huntsville on Saturday. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. at Spragins Hall in Huntsville.
