This week in AUM Athletics: Nov. 4-10

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Each week, the Auburn University at Montgomery Office of Athletics Communications previews the upcoming week with “This Week in AUM Athletics.” We've got five home events scheduled with Women's basketball hosting the GSC-SSC Crossover Classic and the men's soccer teaming hosting the first postseason match, while Volleyball hosts a pair of matches against Trevecca and Lee. The men's basketball team will open their season up on the road this week at Florida Southern.

  • Women's Volleyball hosts a pair of matches this week, starting with Trevecca on Friday and Lee on Saturday.
  • AUM sits at 8-16 on the season and 5-10 in GSC play.
  • Trevecca is 12-15 overall and 9-7 in GSC play. They average a near 3 blocks per set for the second highest in the conference.
  • AUM lost the last meeting with the Trojans 3-1.
  • Lee sits at 10-6 in GSC play with a 16-12 record overall.
  • They have the second highest hitting percentage in the league at .226.

  • The Warhawks are now 9-2-5 overall and 7-2-2 in the league. AUM will host Trevecca for a postseason matchup. The Warhawks are the three-seed in the tournament and the Trojans are sixth.
  • Benjamin Hoffman added a pair of goals last week, with eight to rank sixth in the conference.
  • Trevecca is 4-5-2 and 5-8-3 overall on the season.

  • AUM women's basketball enters the season with first year head coach, Ashlee Phillips. The Warhawks were selected fifth in the GSC preseason coaches poll, its highest since joining the NCAA.
  • Allasha Dudley was named to the preseason All-GSC team after earning All-GSC First Team selection last season.
  • They will host GSC opponent, Montevallo and SSC opponents, Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle this weekend for the GSC-SSC Crossover Classic. 
  • Tip-off is set for Friday at noon as the Warhawks start the tournament against Embry-Riddle.
  • The Warhawks were selected 11th in the GSC preseason coaches poll.
  • The Warhawks return seven letterwinners and two starters from their 2023-24 season that saw them go 11-17 overall and 8-16 in the GSC,
  • Senior forward Malachi Rhodes returns for his second year in Montgomery after averaging 14.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 block per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor and 84 percent from the foul line. The McDonough, Georgia product posted six double-doubles, five 20-plus point games, and a pair of 30-point games.
