MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn University at Montgomery Women's Basketball (3-7, 1-4) fell to the No.1 team in the GSC, Union (9-2, 4-0) 70-56 Thursday night.
AUM's turnovers were too much to overcome against Union in Thursday's game. The Lady Bulldogs scored 27 points off Warhawk turnovers. AUM did win the rebound battle 46-30, led by Daniele Luckey with 11 and
Trinity Hambright with nine.
The Warhawks shot 45% on the night and the Lady Bulldogs just 38% and held the top ranked shooting team to just 22% from behind the arc.
Luckey recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
AUM led early in the first quarter and out rebounded Union 10-5. The Lady Bulldogs would tie the game headed into the second quarter after they forced nine Warhawk turnovers. Union was held to just 24% shooting in the first quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs cold shooting night continued in the second quarter as well, the Warhawks jumped out to their largest lead of the game, 16-10. Luckey ended the first half with eight points and eight rebounds.
As a team, AUM committed 18 turnovers in the first half and trailed 25-21.
Union started the second half with a pair of threes to extend its lead to 10 and held that same lead all the way through.
The Lady Bulldogs second half lead was controlled by their improved shooting and points off turnovers. Union capitalized off the AUM turnovers with 27 points in Thursday night's game. The Warhawks fell to the top ranked team in the league, 70-56.
AUM will host Christian Brothers on Saturday, December 21 for a 2 p.m. CT tip off.
