Softball Picks Up Two Wins At Panther Invite

LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team earned two wins on the second day of the Panther Invitational against Rollins College and Barry University with final scores of 4-3 and 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
  • AUM got the bases loaded in the top of the third and Gia Martin drew a walk scoring Chloe Baynes. 
  • Rebecca Komers reached on a throwing error, which scored three runs for the Warhawks to go up 4-0.
  • Rollins got two runs back in the bottom of the third, to make it 4-2.
  • The Tars scored another run off a homer over the left field wall to make it 4-2. 
  • Rollins got one runner on base in the bottom of the seventh, but AUM was able to catch the runner stealing base and a pop up to third base ended the game 4-3.
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
  • Morgan Ferguson tossed the full seven innings and struck out three batters. She gave up three runs on two hits. Ferguson is now 2-0 in the circle this season.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 2)
  • Chloe Baynes scored on a wild pitch in the first to give AUM a early 1-0 lead in the first inning. 
  • In the fifth inning, Haley Ann Frank crossed the plate on another wild pitch to make it 2-0. 
  • Kat Fallen tallied a RBI double scoring Wheat to go up 3-0. On the next at bat, Gia Martin singled to bring home Fallen as AUM score the third run of the inning. 
  • The Warhawks plated three more runs in the sixth frame with Frank posting a RBI single. Cobb brought home Baynes, while Fallen earned a RBI double to go up 7-0. 
ON THE MOUND (GM 2)
  • Alanna Goble worked seven innings and allowed no runs on five hits. She struck out and walked a pair of batters to move to 2-2 on the season.

The Warhawks conclude play in the Panther Invitational against Florida Tech on Sunday, February 11 at 10 a.m.
