LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team won 4-3 on Sunday against Florida Tech in eight innings on the final day of the Panther Invitational.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
- Gia Martin got the first hit of the game with single to right field in the top of the second inning, but the Warhawks could not scratch a run.
- Florida Tech loaded the bases with two walks and a single in the second inning with no outs. AUM's defense stepped up and got three outs in a row to end the inning.
- Faith Wheat got on base in the top of the fourth after she was hit by a pitch. Moments later, Molly Cobb doubled to right center field and brought Wheat home. Lexie Bullock pinch ran for Cobb and scored off a double from Martin to give AUM a two-run lead.
- Martin posted her third hit of the day with a homer over the right field wall to push AUM in front 3-0.
- The Panthers tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth inning after a RBI double and a two RBI double.
- In the top of the eighth, Florida Tech intentionally walked Martin, which then brought up Rebecca Komers. Komers singled to left field and advanced all the way to third on a throwing error, which sent Martin all the way home. AUM took a 4-3 lead.
- The Panthers got two base-runners on, but could not score a run and the Warhawks picked up the win.
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
- Chelisa Newsome earned her first career win after tossing seven innings. She struck four batters out and allowed three runs on four hits with two runs being earned.
- Avery Dickerson worked the eighth inning, striking out two batters. She also tallied her first career save.

The Warhawks open Gulf South Conference play at Valdosta State University on Saturday, February 17 at noon with a doubleheader. The series will close on Sunday, February 18 at noon.
