VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team split a doubleheader against Valdosta State University on Friday afternoon in Valdosta, Georgia to open Gulf South Conference action. The Warhawks fell in game one 8-1, but bounced back to win game two 12-7.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
- AUM struck first in the first inning with Kat Fallen grounding out and scoring Chloe Baynes.
- Valdosta State got on the board in the second inning, scoring six runs. They hit a three-run homer to make it 6-3.
- VSU got another two-run homer in the third to extend the lead to 8-1.
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
- Avery Dickerson tossed 1.1 innings and gave up six runs on six hits. She did strike two batters out.
- Brinkley Yevak made her 2024 debut and worked the final 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 2)
- Molly Cobb and Gia Martin tallied RBIs by scoring Chloe Baynes, with Martin bringing home Cobb in the top of the first.
- Chloe Derrick hit a ball over the center field wall as the Warharks took a 4-0 lead.
- VSU evened the score at four a piece in the bottom of the first inning.
- Rebecca Komers was able to cross home plate on a error by Valdosta State in the third. Baynes tacked on an additional run in the third inning with a single, scoring Whitney Wells.
- Gia Martin hit a solo homer in the fourth inning to push the Warhawks up 7-4.
- AUM's lead continued to grow and grew even more in the fifth inning with Kat Fallen hitting a two-RBI homer.
- VSU got a pair of runs back in the sixth, but Fallen silenced the Blzers with a solo homer to give AUM a 12-7 lead.
ON THE MOUND (GM 2)
- Alanna Goble went seven innings and gave up seven earned runs on eight hits. She struck out seven batters.
