Women's Basketball Takes Down West Florida On DII Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --  The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team earned a Gulf South Conference victory on Thursday night 76-63 in front of a packed crowd for DII Day at the AUM Athletics Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS

  •  AUM's Tian Addison, Allasha Dudley, and Grace O'Gara combined for five made three-pointers in the opening quarter to boost the Warhawks to a 26-11 lead after the first 10 minutes. 
  • West Florida trimmed the AUM lead down to seven points, but Brianna Sanchez made a jumper at the 4:01 mark to spark AUM to close the half on a 10-2 run taking a 45-30 lead into halftime. 
  • Addison made back-to-back free throws with two minutes left in the third quarter, to give AUM a 62-41 lead. 
  • The Argonauts started the fourth quarter hitting back-to-back three-pointers to cut the lead back down to 15 and eventually got it down to 11 with three minutes left in the game. 
  • AUM held off the Argos from getting on another run to capture the 76-63 victory in the GSC matchup.
NOTABLES
  • Dudley scored 26 points and registered 10 rebounds, securing her first career double-double. 
  • Addison had a strong game scoring 24 points and going 8-for-9 from the charity stripe. She chipped in with a pair of assists. 
  • Brianna Sanchez reached double-digits with 11 points and tallied nine rebounds. 
  • Nevaeh Small gathered 11 rebounds, which is a new career high. 
FROM THE SIDELINE

"Great win for us at home," head coach Jon Plefka said. "Big first quarter helped us for sure. We have a big one on Saturday for Senior Day against a top 10 ranked team in the country."

AUM is back at home on Saturday, February 24 against No. 2 Valdosta State University inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a Gulf South Conference matchup for Senior Day.
