Big Fourth Quarter Sends Women's Basketball Past Delta State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team earned a 55-49 victory against Delta State University on Saturday afternoon inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a Gulf South Conference matchup.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Delta State took a 5-0 lead before AUM's Grace O'Gara rattled in back-to-back three-pointers at the 6:56 mark in the opening quarter. 
  • Tian Addison connected on back-to-back three-pointers to give AUM a 15-9 lead towards the end of the first quarter. 
  • All nine of AUM's points in the second quarter came from the charity stripe and the defense was strong only allowing 10 points to give AUM a 26-21 lead at the break.
  • Delta State came out strong in the third quarter outscoring AUM 22-9, which saw the Lady Statesmen owning a 43-35 lead entering the fourth quarter. 
  • The Warhawks trimmed the lead down to six and then went on a 6-0 run to even the score at 47 after Addison made a pair of jumpers in the paint.
  • With 1:32 left on the clock, Allasha Dudley was sent to the free-throw line and went 1-for-2. AUM earned the rebound and Danielle Luckey made a layup with contact and made the free-throw to give AUM a 51-49 lead. 
  • AUM held on defensively and converted four three-throws to give the Warhawks more comfort and they earned the 55-49 victory. 
NOTABLES
  • Addison led the way with 16 points and secured three rebounds. 
  • O'Gara went for 15 points going 5-for-9 from the field. She also dished out three assists and had four rebounds. 
  • Luckey gathered 11 rebounds and scored seven points and had a big block in the final minutes. 
  • AUM has won six straight games and tonight's victory was the program's first victory over Delta State.
