PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Meets No. 1 Seed Valdosta State In GSC Semifinals

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team is set to play the No. 1 seed Valdosta State University in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Championship in Birmingham, Alabama at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University on Saturday, March 9 at noon.

'TICKETS, GET YOUR TICKETS!' GSC IN THE NCAA SOUTH REGION RANKINGS
  • The NCAA released the third batch of regional rankings on Wednesday and the Warhawks stayed at No. 7. 
  • Valdosta State University (No. 1), Union University (No. 2), and Lee University (No. 6) are also ranked and are all in the GSC semifinals. 
  • The top eight teams advance to the NCAA South Regional played at the No. 1 seed with three teams being auto-bids from the GSC, Sunshine State Conference (SSC), and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC) and the remaining five teams earning an at-large bid. 
FIVE ON THE WARHAWKS
  • AUM won a thrilling 74-70 game against No. 5 seed University of West Florida in the opening round, behind a 28-point performance from Grace O'Gara
  • Allasha Dudley was named to the All-GSC First Team after scoring 17.5 points per game this season. She surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this season and is currently sitting at 1,151 total points in an AUM jersey. 
  • Graduate Student Tian Addison has been a strong addition to AUM this season and has averaged 12.8 points per game and has dished out 2.6 assists per game. 
  • Danielle Luckey has posted more double-doubles than anybody in the GSC this season. She has 11 this season and has averaged 9.1 points per game and grabs 9.6 rebounds per game. 
  • AUM reached 20 wins for the first time since the 2015-16 season. 
FIVE ON THE BLAZERS
  • Valdosta State's head coach Deandra Schirmer is in her fifth season leading the Lady Blazers and has an overall record of 111-30. She was named GSC Coach of the Year after posting a 26-2 record in the regular season. 
  • Kalifa Ford was named GSC Player of the Year after scoring 14.5 points per game and averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. 
  • Valdosta State's defense gives up 53.7 points per game, which is the best in the GSC and the offense averages 72.1 points per game, which is second best. 
  • Taylor Searcey and Aleisha Curry were tabbed to the All-GSC Second Team. 
  • Searcey is fourth in the conference in assists per game at 3.9.
