LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team, after going 4-0 this past week and running its win streak to nine games, climbed to fifth in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) South Region Poll.
The Warhawks, who scored a season-high 45 runs in a three-game sweep of Christian Brothers University, got a pair of grand slams and nine runs batted in from designated hitter Cooper Doughman in game three of the weekend. Doughman tied Frank "Pookie" Wilson for the program record for RBIs in the contest.
AUM's nine straight wins is the best mark in the Gulf South Conference and the second-best mark in the South Region. The Warhawks own a 22-14 overall record and a 15-6 record in league play.
The black and orange visit Lenoir-Rhyne University for two midweek games, on Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 3.
