OXFORD, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team defeated The University of Alabama in Huntsville 11-3 on Friday evening at Choccolocco Park in the Gulf South Conference Tournament to reach the championship game for the third time in four seasons.

HIGHLIGHTS
- AUM's offense exploded in the first inning for seven runs with Molly Cobb, Gia Martin, Chloe Derrick, Shelby Newsome, Margaret Morgan, and Chloe Baynes batting in runs. Newsome was able to score on a double-steal as the Warhawks took a 7-0 lead after one inning.
- UAH's Cartron hit a three-run home run in the second inning to trim the lead to 7-3 in the second inning.
- Morgan reached base on a fielder's choice and scored Martin in the bottom half of the second inning to make it 8-3.
- In the fourth inning, Kat Fallen scored on a passed ball to make it 9-3 and it was followed by Newsome hitting a single to center field and scoring Martin to make it 10-3.
- Martin hit a single through the left side and scored Fallen in the bottom of the fifth as AUM earned the run-rule victory 11-3 over the Chargers.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Brinkley Yevak got the start and worked the first two innings and gave up three runs on four hits.
- Alanna Goble (W, 16-3) earned the win in relief tossing three innings and gave up no runs on no hits. She struck out four batters.
