MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Auburn University at Montgomery Athletics has announced the hiring of Brian Henry as the department's new Sports Information Director.

"I am excited about the addition of Brian Henry as our next Sports Information Director," Director of Athletics Erik Maas said. "He has a passion for promoting student-athlete and program success and I am looking forward to him bringing that passion to AUM."

Henry joins the Warhawks from the University of West Florida, where he was the Sports Information Director for the past nine years. Henry led the communication efforts for the Argos' 15 sports, oversaw the Sports Information budget and supervised the department's staff.

"They are two professionals that I respect and am happy to get to work with on a daily basis. I am also very excited to help promote the incredible student-athletes, coaches and staff at AUM."

While at West Florida, Henry created the UWF Sports Network and navigated the department's inaugural radio broadcast partnership. He also established and produced the weekly television show, Argo Sports Insider, and secured a $170,000 Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grant for the creation of a student-run, in-house broadcast department.

During his tenure with the Argos, he promoted four National Players of the Year, more than 50 All-Americans and 18 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans. He was the Media Coordinator for 20 NCAA and eight Gulf South Conference postseason championships hosted by West Florida.

"He is a tireless worker, a proven mentor to young professionals and a well-respected leader in the Athletic Communications industry. I am excited to welcome him, his wife Tracy, and their children, Abigail and Andrew, to the AUM family."

Henry joined the West Florida staff following four-plus years as the Associate Athletics Media Relations Director at the University of Massachusetts. The three years prior, he was the Sports Information Director at Lamar University. He has also worked at the University of Missouri, the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and completed an internship at Vanderbilt University. Additionally, Henry has served on the media coordination staffs of more than 20 bowl games, including 10 Cotton Bowl Classics.

Henry is the current NCAA Division II Cabinet Chair for CSC and has completed terms as a NCAA South Regional Advisory Committee Member for women's tennis and as a D2SIDA South Region Representative. He is also a member of the CSC Professional Development and Academic All-America Committees.

Henry earned his bachelor's degree from Troy University in journalism and sports information in 2004, where he worked was the primary media contact for the Trojan baseball, golf and volleyball teams during his three years with the Sports Information office.
