AUM Athletics Announces Addition of Women’s Golf

This will be the university's 12th intercollegiate sport

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Auburn University at Montgomery Director of Athletics Erik Maas has announced the addition of women's golf as a varsity sport, beginning competition in the fall of 2025.

The team will compete as a NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference member.

"We are thrilled to be adding women's golf to our athletic department at AUM," said Dr. Carl Stockton, Chancellor of Auburn University at Montgomery. "We are excited to offer additional opportunities for female student-athletes to compete as Warhawks and pursue their educational goals at AUM. We know the rich tradition of women's golf in the Gulf South Conference and look forward to competing against some of Division II's best female golfers."

Women's golf will expand the Warhawks' list of intercollegiate athletic teams to 12 and become the first new sport added since volleyball in 2017.

"Montgomery and the River Region are such great golfing communities, so we are in a perfect place to build a thriving DII women's golf program," said Maas. "With the incredible growth of women's golf over the last few years, both regionally and nationally, now is an outstanding time to expand our department and provide more young women an opportunity to have an excellent college and athletic experience. I would like to thank Dr. Stockton for his vision and support in making AUM women's golf a reality."

The Warhawks will be the ninth women's golf program competing in the GSC.

Maas expects to announce AUM's first women's golf coach in the near future.
