JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The No. 5 ranked AUM men's soccer team played its first road contest of the season, traveling to eastern Tennessee where they finished with a 0-0 tie at Carson-Newman on Thursday.
AUM (2-0-2) finished with 10 shots and put four on goal, while C-N (1-2-3) compiled 13 attempts with three on goal.
"I was very proud of the lads and the work they put in for each other," AUM head coach
Matthew Thorne said. "That's the third clean sheet in four games and this was against a very good side. We will recover and go again for another great challenge Saturday (at Lander)."
Alfie Rule stopped all three Eagle shots that came his way as he raised his scoreless minutes played to 225 this season.
Nick Atkinson led the team with three shots and two on goal, with
Benjamin Hoffman and
Logan Roach contributing the other two shots on goal. C-N goalkeeper Paul Moser stopped all three shots he faced.
AUM will face Lander (1-2-1) on Saturday. Kick off at Van Taylor Stadium in Greenwood, S.C. is set for 1 p.m Eastern Time.
