GREENWOOD, S.C. - The fifth-ranked AUM men's soccer team battled Lander for 90 minutes and came away with a second-consecutive scoreless tie.
AUM (2-0-3) continued its strong defensive play this season, producing it's fourth shutout in five games. The Warhawks and Bearcats both finished with seven shots in the game.
"I'm happy with the lads' work rate and discipline today," AUM head coach
Matthew Thorne said. "We were unlucky a few times when we hit the woodwork.
"This was a very tough road trip and to come away with another clean sheet against a very good team is something that shows the character of this group."
The Warhawks had just two shots in the first half before turning up the offensive pressure in the second half putting five more shots up, including four on goal that were saved and two more that went off the crossbar.
William Blake stopped all three shots that came his way from the Bearcats.
AUM will return to play next weekend when it opens Gulf South Conference play at home against Lee on Friday. Kick off at the AUM Soccer Complex is at 7:30 p.m.
