MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM women's volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-1 defeats on the first day of the Warhawk Invitational at the AUM Athletics Complex on Friday. AUM fell to Palm Beach Atlantic by set scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15 in the first match before battling Arkansas Tech to a 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17 in the final contest of the day.
AUM (3-5) hit .172 as a team and finished with 15 service aces and 14 total blocks.
Maya Thompson and
Kendall McCain were the top offensive producers for AUM as they combined for 41 kills. Thompson was equally stout on the defensive end as she stopped 11 attacks for a 1.38 blocks per set.Â
Emily Brown,
Campbell Gash and
Carly Cooper all had three aces to lead the Warhawks.
Cooper and Grete Corrente each had at least 2.50 digs per set.
AUM will return to play on Saturday afternoon when they face Shorter at 3 p.m.
