MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM men's soccer team scored two highlight-reel goals and the defense produced a second-consecutive shutout for a 2-0 win over Tampa at the AUM Soccer Complex on Saturday.
AUM improved to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2015. Tampa falls to 1-1 on the year.
The Wahawks got on the board in the first half when Â
Adam Hanson one-timed a pass in the box in the 32nd minute off passes from
Andrew Strait and
Ivan Gonzalez. That's the way things stood for the remainder of the period sending the teams into the break with AUM leading.
The Orange and Black added to the lead with a goal off a corner kick in the 48th minute.
Logan Roach served a corner kick into the box where Landon Surrat headed it away from the goalkeeper to
Sean Keane who flicked it in the back of the net with his own head.
AUM finished with game with a 10-7 shots advantage as each team put three attempts on goal.
William Blake earned the win and shutout with three saves.
Nicholas Atkinson led the Warhawks with four shots.
AUM will return to play next Sunday, Sept. 15 when it face Clayton State. Kick off at the AUM Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m.
