MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The AUM women's volleyball team hit a season-high .330 for a 3-0 win over Edward Waters to close out play at the Barry Invitational on Saturday.
Emily Brown and
Maya Thompson led the Warhawks with 10 and nine kills, respectively. Brown and
Kendall McCain - who also had nine kills - each hit over .400 in the match.
AUM (2-1) hit over .320 in each set and finished with a season-best 12 service aces.
Carly Cooper had 10 digs and
Savannah Sebek had nine. Sebek combined with
Campbell Gash for 30 assists.
The Warhawks had runs of 4-0 and 5-0 in the first set to grab a 25-16 decision. In the second set, EWU was leading 9-8 before AUM rattled off seven-consecutive poitns for a 15-9 lead. They claimed a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 set victory. AUM finished things off with a 25-14 third set score, outscoring the Tigers 14-5 down the stretch.
AUM will return to action next weekend when they travel to Murfreesboro, N.C. for the Chowan Invitational The Warhawks will play Lander and Virginia Union on Friday, Sept. 13 and Chowan a day later.
