HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
Trailing 5-1 early, AUM saw a
Courtney Joseph kill and an assisted block by McCain and
Sofia Cerebuch to even the score at five points apiece.
The Argos rallied back with four straight kills to reclaim the lead in the set for good. Ahead 10-8, UWF went on a 12-3 run en route to a 25-14 win.
Set 2
The second frame was all West Florida, as they totaled 13 kills to AUM's three. Using a 13-3 start, the Argos cruised to a 25-8 win to lead the match two sets to none.
Set 3
The Argos kept their foot on the gas into the start of the third, taking an early 8-1 lead. However, a 6-2 run by the Warhawks cut the early deficit down to 10-7. McCain totaled two kills and a service ace in the run.
For West Florida, they were able to maintain control, thanks to a 9-4 run to lead 19-11 after they had six kills in the stretch. That would be enough to take the third, 25-14, and sweep in three sets.
