MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's soccer team (9-4-3, GSC: 6-3-2) used a pair of goals to defeat the Delta State University Statesmen (2-10-3, GSC: 1-8-2) in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon at the AUM Soccer Complex.

"Proud of the lads to bounce back after that tough loss Friday. We earned the right to play at home in the GSC tournament. It's a new season from now! Up the Warhawks!"
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Alan De Paula's seventh goal of the season helped AUM take the first lead as they went in front 1-0 in the 28th minute of the match.
 
Delta State had eight shots in the first half compared to five for AUM, but De Paula's goal served as the only tally of the first half as the Warhawks took the slim advantage into the halftime intermission.
 
Second Half
The Warhawks doubled their lead almost immediately as the second half began. 
 
Robiston Lukau used an assist from 
Benjamin Hoffmann in the 49th minute to help AUM build a 2-0 lead.
 
The AUM defense blocked three Delta State shots and two other shots missed wide over the next 20 minutes of game action as the Statesmen tried to get back into the match.
 
Delta State was finally able to find its first and only goal in the 88th minute courtesy of Braden Taylor. Santi Rossi was credited with the assist on the play.
 
NOTABLES
	- The Statesmen attempted 14 shots in the match to AUM's 11 and owned a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
 
	- AUM goalkeeper Brock Marlow allowed one goal and made a pair of saves to pick up the win and move to 6-2 on the season.
 
	- The Warhawks, the defending Gulf South Conference tournament champions, now move on to the postseason. 
 
UP NEXT
AUM hosts the University of Montevallo in the quarterfinal round for the second time in the last four seasons on Sunday, November 9 at the AUM Soccer Complex.
