MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The AUM baseball team opened the 2025 season with a pair of games against No. 16 Young Harris on Saturday, dropping both contests at QV Lowe Field.
Zach Dew and
Tyrese Rooks each had two hits for the Warhawks.
Game One - YHC 3, AUM 2
YHC had solo home runs from Jeremy Begora, Carlos Martans and Drew Bray before holding off a late AUM rally for a 3-2 victory. Trailing 3-0,
Brendan York hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the eighth that brought the Warhawks within a run. But the Mountain Lions got 1.3 innings from Ryan Cross to shut down AUM and earn the save.
Clay Slagle work six innings and allowed one run on four hits for AUM.
Game Two - YHC 17, AUM 1
The Mountain Lions scored 13 runs in the first inning and held on for a 17-1 victory.
Kyle Hipp drove in the AUM run with a single in the second inning.
The teams will conclude their 3-game series on Sunday at noon.
