HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 5 Auburn University at Montgomery Softball (18-7, 11-5) fell in the series opener at Alabama Huntsville (16-14, 9-7) 8-0 in five innings.
AUM fell in the series opener after being shutout in five innings with just two hits.
The Chargers jumped ahead early with a single run in the second inning. UAH hit a leadoff homerun before
Reese Cauley struck out three in a row.
The Warhawks threatened to respond in the third, but left the bases loaded.
In the fourth inning, UAH added four more runs to extend the lead out to five. They hit two homers in the inning, a three-run and a solo shot.
A defensive error for the Warhawks allowed the Chargers to increase the lead out to six in the fifth inning. Two more runs would come in to score after a pair of base-hits for UAH to run-rule the Warhawks 8-0 in five innings.
Cauley tossed four innings with three strikeouts and allowed five earned runs on six hits.
