CLINTON, Miss. – No. 2 Auburn University at Montgomery Softball (15-5, 8-3) dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader at Mississippi College.
Game 1 – AUM 0, MC 1
Sydni Free started in the circle for the Warhawks and tossed three scoreless innings before
Reese Cauley entered the game. Cauley held the Choctaws scoreless as well until a six inning solo homerun.
Friday's game one doubleheader was a pitchers' duel with the first run of the game in the sixth inning.
Mississippi College would strike first on a solo homer from the Choctaws, Madison Jenkins. She also tossed seven shutout innings in the circle in game one.
In the seventh, the Warhawks trailed by a run and
Lexie Bullock led off the inning with a single. AUM's rally came up short as they were unable to even the game.
The Choctaws took game one of the doubleheader in a 1-0 pitcher's duel.
Game 2 – AUM 1, MC 4
The Warhawks took its first lead of the series and went up 1-0 in the fourth inning of game two.
Lexi Love drove in
Haley Ann Frank after Frank singled up the middle.
The Choctaws regained the lead and scored four runs in the fifth inning. AUM committed two defensive errors.
Chelisa Newsome started in the circle and went five innings with two strikeouts. She threw four scoreless before Mississippi College's big fifth inning. Free took over in the sixth and held the Choctaws scoreless in her inning of work.
AUM dropped two games in a row for the first time all season and will look to bounce back in the series finale tomorrow.
