CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Benjamin Hoffmann bagged the game-tying goal in the waning minutes of the match to help the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawk men's soccer team (4-1-2) escape with a 2-2 draw against the Lee University Flames (3-3-2) on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play.

Hoffmann's right-footed finish tied the match in the 86th minute as AUM finished its opening conference weekend with a win and a tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
It was the homestanding Flames that jumped out onto the scoreboard first in the 22nd minute.

Marius Brandtun spun a left-footed finish into the back of the net as Lee pushed in front 1-0.

The Warhawks, ranked No. 20 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, responded with their first big chance just before the halftime intermission.Â

Lee was whistled for a handball in the box, and AUM's
Sean O'Donnell buried his shot into the bottom right corner to draw the match even 1-1.

Second Half
In the second half, AUM's
Braden Nye committed a foul inside the box to earn Lee a penalty kick. Daniel Garvilla calmly stepped up to the spot and slotted the go-ahead goal into the top right corner.

Shots from both the Flames and the Warhawks were blocked in the closing minutes as the final opportunity for both offenses before time ran out.Â
