Warhawks Fight Hard Against UAH in Home Loss

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks women's basketball team (2-13, GSC: 2-7) fell 75-50 to the University of Alabama in Huntsville (15-3, GSC: 10-0) on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Athletics Complex.

First Quarter
Senior Samya Brooks opened the scoring for the women with a two-point basket and accounted for the Warhawks' first four points of the game. AUM totaled 13 points in the opening quarter, with Brooks leading the way by scoring six. The Warhawks trailed 21-13 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Second Quarter 
The Warhawks continued to battle in the second quarter but headed into halftime trailing 36-24. AUM saw contributions across the lineup, as Nevaeh Small, Andie Flatgard, Keziah Seay, and Ameyah Gray each knocked down two-point baskets.

AUM shot 6-of-14 from the field in the quarter, finishing at 42.9 percent.

Third Quarter
The UAH Chargers began to pull away in the third quarter, despite an early push from the Warhawks. Brooks opened the period by going to the free-throw line and converting both attempts, while Brown added a pair of baskets and later knocked down two free throws of her own.

The quarter concluded with Andie Flatgard drilling a three-pointer off an assist from Brooks, her second assist of the game.

Fourth Quarter
The final quarter opened with a layup from junior Shelby McAllister, who followed by assisting Andie Flatgard on a three-pointer. Flatgard set season highs with seven three-point attempts and two makes before adding another basket for the Warhawks.

Brooks and Brown also contributed to the scoring in the quarter. The game closed with a layup from Gray off an assist from McAllister, sealing the 75-50 final.
 
Notables 
Samya Brooks led the Warhawks in scoring with 16 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.

Andie Flatgard finished with 10 points, three assists, and four rebounds while recording season highs in field goals made (4), field goals attempted (12), three-pointers made (2), and three-point attempts (7).
 
Tamora Brown added seven points and a team-high six rebounds, including four on the offensive glass.
 
The orange and black made 19-of-58 shots from the field for a 32.8 percent shooting performance.
