AUM Bested by Flames

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's basketball team (3-15, GSC: 1-11) fell to the Lee Flames (8-7, GSC: 5-6) on Thursday evening from the AUM Athletics Complex.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The Flames scored the first nine points of the day before Ti'Avian Scruggs hit a jumper to end the streak. Lee continued to push ahead, extending their lead to 30-15 at the eight-minute mark.
 
Despite three-point buckets from Marius Canery and Jacob St. Clair, Lee continued to build on their advantage, ending the first half leading 50-29. 
 
Second Half
The visitors added points early in the second half, but Elhadji Thiam's powerful dunk and a Canery layup sparked momentum for AUM. Canery followed by knocking down his third three of the night.
 
Although the orange and black continued to battle, Lee went on to secure a 95-61 win in Montgomery.
 
NOTABLES
  • Marius Canery led the Warhawks with 18 points while posting three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
  • Elhadji Thiam totaled 12 points while shooting 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the field.
  • Jamarious Martin scored 11 points while adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • As a team, the Warhawks shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the field.
  • AUM tallied 26 points in the paint to Lee's 42.
 
UP NEXT - (SCHEDULE CHANGE)
The Warhawks' home game against Trevecca Nazarene, originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, has been postponed until Thursday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
 
AUM's next game will be on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. against Delta State in Cleveland, MS.
