MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team (2-17; GSC: 2-11) fell to Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (12-6; GSC: 9-4), 92-65, on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Athletics Complex.
First Quarter
Samya Brooks opened the scoring for the Warhawks with a two-pointer, followed by a basket from Tamora Brown. Brooks then went to the line and converted both free throws before
Nevaeh Small grabbed a rebound and scored. Brooks added another bucket to close the quarter, accounting for half of AUM's points in the opening period. The Warhawks trailed 24–12 heading into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
Nevaeh Small came out strong to open the second quarter, scoring six straight points for the Warhawks. Jaden Toney added a spark by knocking down a three-pointer off an assist from Andie Flatgard. Flatgard then followed it up with a basket of her own. Brown battled on the boards, securing her own rebound and finishing the play, before assisting
Toccara Stagnaro for a basket. The Warhawks headed into halftime trailing 46–27.
Third Quarter
Brown opened the half by drawing a foul and converting both free throws, followed by Brooks adding one from the line. Andie Flatgard continued her hot streak by drilling a three-pointer, marking her eighth consecutive game with a basket from beyond the arc. Stagnaro provided an immediate spark with a steal and a fast-break layup, and
Ameyah Gray kept the momentum going by knocking down two free throws before Brooks hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 56–46. Flatgard added a layup for her 10th point of the game and later dished a perfect pass to Stagnaro for another layup, her fourth assist of the game. The Warhawks outscored the Trojans 25–23 in the quarter, but still trailed 69–52 heading into the final period.
Fourth Quarter
Gray opened the final period with a layup, followed by back-to-back buckets from Stagnaro, who added another layup and a jumper to keep the offense moving. Shelby McAlister knocked down a three-pointer, and Stagnaro later went to the line, converting both free throws to give her six points in the quarter. Toney added two points at the stripe, but despite the late effort, the Warhawks fell 92–65.
