MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Junior midfielder Courtney Pigford of the Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team has been named Warhawk of the Week, as announced by the AUM Athletics Department on Friday afternoon.
Pigford's Week
Courtney Pigford delivered a decisive performance in the Warhawks' 1-0 victory over West Alabama on Oct. 7, scoring the game-winning goal to help AUM secure an important Gulf South Conference win.
Pigford found the back of the net in the shutout victory, finishing one of her three shots on the night for her first goal of the two-game stretch. The senior forward played all 90 minutes against the Tigers, putting two of her three attempts on target while providing the difference in a tightly contested matchup.
Pigford followed with another full 90-minute performance on Oct. 10 at Delta State, recording one shot in the Warhawks' 2-1 loss. Across the two matches, she played all 180 minutes, tallied four shots and two shots on goal, and finished with two points. Her game-winning strike against West Alabama highlighted a week in which she helped AUM earn a conference victory.
Season Snapshot
Pigford has been a consistent presence in the Warhawks' lineup throughout the 2026 season, starting all 14 matches and logging 1,177 minutes on the pitch. The junior has contributed two goals and four points, with both goals coming in a three-match stretch that began with a strike against Mississippi Christian on Oct. 3 before she found the back of the net again against West Alabama on Oct. 7.
Against Mississippi Christian, Pigford scored in AUM's 2-2 draw, converting her lone shot of the match for her first goal of the season. She followed that performance with an even bigger moment against West Alabama, scoring the game-winner in a 1-0 victory. Pigford recorded a season-high three shots against the Tigers, putting two on target while delivering the decisive finish to secure the conference win.
Through 14 appearances, Pigford has totaled nine shots and four shots on goal, with a .444 shots-on-goal percentage. Her two goals account for half of her four total points, and she has played at least 74 minutes in 13 of her 14 appearances. With experience, steady minutes and the ability to deliver in important moments, Pigford continues to be a valuable part of the Warhawks' attack as they approach the final stretch of the regular season.
