MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery cross country teams continue to hold their ground among the top programs in the NCAA Division II South Region, with the men's team remaining No. 6 for the fourth consecutive week and the women's team holding at No. 8 for the third straight week in the latest rankings released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Men's Cross Country Remains No. 6 in South Region
The AUM men's cross country team maintained its No. 6 ranking for the fourth straight week, matching the highest regional ranking in program history.
The Warhawks most recently placed 10th in a 24-team field at the 25th annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic, scoring 313 points and finishing ahead of 10 Division I programs. Sophomore Caleb Yoder led AUM with a 38th-place finish in the men's 8K, clocking 24:49.60 to move into second on the program's all-time list, just 0.60 seconds shy of the school record.
Tyler Anthony finished 56th in 25:08.20, followed by junior Mikey Banks in 67th at 25:16.70. JT Mathison and Brexton Hathaway rounded out the scoring five with season-best times of 25:27.00 and 25:31.20, respectively.
The Louisville Classic performance continued a strong stretch for AUM, which previously finished 13th at the Southern Showcase while placing second among Division II teams and ahead of 12 Division I programs.
Women's Cross Country Holds No. 8 in South Region
The AUM women's cross country team remained No. 8 in the latest regional rankings for the third consecutive week after previously reaching a program-best No. 7.
Competing at McFarland Park, AUM scored 97 points in a 12-team field featuring 106 individual runners at the Kennemer Classic in Florence, Alabama. The Warhawks finished as the top non-Division I team, trailing Jacksonville State and West Florida while placing ahead of Division I programs Austin Peay and host North Alabama.
Junior Chloe Helms led AUM with a seventh-place finish in a personal-best 18:08.00, improving upon her previous second-fastest time in program history, and she now owns four of the five fastest 5K times in AUM history.
Freshman Lena Parker placed 17th in 18:52.80, setting a personal best and lowering her own AUM freshman 5K record by more than 15 seconds. Parker was the third freshman to finish the race and the second Warhawk across the line for the third time this season. Her performance earned her Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the first time in her collegiate career.
Emma McGee finished 24th in 19:22.10, followed by Natalie Wiram in 32nd at 19:41.00 and Adley Burkes in 36th at 19:53.10 to complete the Warhawks' scoring five.
The Kennemer Classic marked another strong outing for the Warhawks, who have also captured the team title at the Montevallo Falcon Classic this season. That victory, secured with 27 points and five runners inside the top 10, marked AUM's second team win since moving to the NCAA Division II level and its first since 2021.
