MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Sophomore Caleb Yoder of the Auburn University at Montgomery men's cross country team has been named Warhawk of the Week, as announced by the AUM Athletics Department Thursday afternoon.
Yoder's Week
Caleb Yoder continued to make history for the Warhawks at the 25th annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday, leading AUM to a 10th-place finish in a 24-team field at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The sophomore crossed the finish line 38th overall in the men's 8K with a time of 24:49.60, recording the second-fastest 8K performance in program history. Yoder improved upon his previous mark of 24:55.00, set at the Southern Showcase earlier this season, shaving more than five seconds off his time to move into second on AUM's all-time 8K list.
He finished just 0.60 seconds shy of the program record of 24:49.00.
Yoder's performance helped the Warhawks score 313 points and finish ahead of 10 NCAA Division I programs, including Duquesne, Wright State, Xavier and South Florida. AUM also finished second among Gulf South Conference teams in the field, trailing only Lee.
The strong showing came as the Warhawks continued to hold their place among the region's top teams. In the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II South Region rankings released Tuesday, the men's team remained at No. 6 for the second consecutive week, matching the highest regional ranking in program history.
Season Snapshot
Yoder has established himself as one of the Warhawks' top runners in his sophomore season, continuing to climb AUM's all-time performance lists while helping the men's team compete among the region's best. At the Southern Showcase, he clocked a then-personal-best 24:55.00 in the 8K, ranking fourth in program history before lowering that mark to 24:49.60 at the Louisville Classic. His latest performance moved him into second on AUM's all-time 8K list, just 0.60 seconds shy of the school record.
Yoder was also named to the Gulf South Conference's 2026 Men's Cross Country Runners to Watch List alongside teammates Mikey Banks and JT Mathison. The recognition comes as AUM continues to build on its preseason expectations, when the Warhawks were picked fourth in the GSC Coaches Preseason Poll with 59 points. The team currently sits at No. 6 in the USTFCCCA South Region rankings, matching the highest regional ranking in program history.
