Warhawks Earn Doubles Point, Blazers Rally for 6-1 Victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's tennis team (0-2) opened their match against the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers (2-3) with a pair of doubles victories to claim the first point of the day before falling 6-1 on Thursday afternoon from the AUM Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles
Despite the Blazers winning the first doubles battle at the No. 2 position, AUM's tandem of Giuseppe Bonaiuti and Jami Savolainen took down UAB's Ondrej Valek and Juan Pablo Valdez 6-4 at the No. 1 slot to even the odds.

With the doubles point on the line, Mark Nawa and Lucas Rosvall paired up to defeat the Blazers' Hoan Mouret and Tomas Tischner 6-4 at the No. 3 spot, earning the Warhawks the doubles point.

Singles
UAB started off the singles portion of the match strong, taking straight set wins at the No. 2, 4, 3, and 1 positions.

Rosvall and Nawa took their opponents to a third set at the No. 5 and 6 positions respectively, however, the Blazers were able to take all six singles points and end the match in their favor, 6-1.
