AUM Drops GSC Contest Against the UAH Chargers

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team (3-22, GSC: 3-16) dropped a conference matchup to the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers (24-4, GSC: 19-1) on Thursday evening at SportsMED Arena inside Spragins Hall.

First Quarter
Samya Brooks opened the scoring for the Warhawks with a jumper before adding a free throw at the line. Ameyah Gray followed with her first two points of the game, and Brooks continued to lead the offense, scoring the next four points on a pair of free throws and a hook shot. However, UAH found its rhythm from beyond the arc, knocking down seven three-pointers in the opening quarter. The Warhawks trailed 29–9 at the end of the first ten minutes.

Second Quarter
In the second quarter, Brooks converted two of four attempts at the free-throw line. Nevaeh Small added a turnaround jumper, and Brooks followed with a layup to keep the Warhawks attacking. Jaden Toney knocked down a three-pointer, her seventh of the season, before coming up with a steal and finding Gray for a fast-break layup. Small added another jumper, and Paige Taylor got on the board with two points late in the frame. AUM trailed 52–24 heading into halftime.

Third Quarter
The orange and black responded in the third quarter, outscoring UAH 31–28 behind a hot shooting performance. Andie Flatgard opened the frame with a three-pointer off an assist from Toney, and Brooks followed with a jumper. Flatgard connected on another three, marking her third straight game with a three-pointer and her 39th of the season, before Small added a layup. Toney buried her second three of the game off a Flatgard assist, and after a defensive rebound by Small, Keziah Seay knocked down a three from another Flatgard dish.

Brooks added a layup, Flatgard hit yet another three, and Gray followed with one of her own as the Warhawks started the quarter a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc. Flatgard finished the period with 13 points, helping AUM shoot 85.7 percent from three-point range and 73.3 percent from the field in the quarter. The Warhawks trailed 80–55 heading into the final period.

Fourth Quarter
The final quarter saw AUM add six points while UAH scored seven. Gray knocked down a three-pointer, and Shelby McAlister recorded her first points of the game with a layup. Gray later went to the line and converted one of two free throws to round out the scoring for the Warhawks. Auburn University at Montgomery fell to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, 87–61.
