Miller, Turner Go Deep as Warhawks Drop Finale to West Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team (4-10; GSC: 1-5) closed out its weekend series at the AUM Baseball Complex on Saturday evening, falling 7–2 to Gulf South Conference (GSC) opponent West Alabama (12-1; GSC: 5-1) in the final game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
West Alabama struck early in the opening frame, plating five runs on six hits to take an early 5-0 lead with the help of four singles, one double, and one home run at the top of the first. AUM settled in defensively over the next few innings as starting pitcher, Jackson Reed worked a scoreless second inning, and the Warhawks limited West Alabama to just one hit combined in the third and fourth frames.

The Warhawks broke through offensively in the bottom of the fourth as Cannon Miller sparked the rally with a solo home run to center field, his third of the season. Luke Turner followed with a solo shot down the right field line to cut the deficit to 5–2. Tucker Burns later singled in the inning, but AUM was unable to push across additional runs.

West Alabama added an insurance run in the fifth on a wild pitch, extending its lead to 6–2. The Tigers tacked on another run in the eighth when Diego Bryant connected on his second home run of the night to make it 7–2.

AUM threatened in the sixth and eighth innings. Christopher McNeill doubled to right field in the sixth and advanced to third, while John Kiebler singled and stole second in the eighth. However, the Warhawks were unable to capitalize, and West Alabama secured the 7–2 victory.

Notables
AUM plated both of their runs in the fourth inning as Cannon Miller homered to center field and Luke Turner followed with a solo shot down the right field line.

John Kiebler turned in a two-hit performance, singling in the third and eighth innings, and stole second base in the eighth.

Tucker Burns added a single in the second inning as part of AUM's six-hit total.

The AUM pitchers combined for five strikeouts in the game. Jackson Reed recorded four strikeouts, and Griffin Stewart struck out one in the eighth.

Catcher, Cannon Miller, also threw out a runner attempting to steal in the seventh inning.
