MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its Week 3 edition of the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon, with the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team ranked No. 4 in the nation. AUM held the top spot in each of the first two polls of the season, marking the highest ranking in program history.

SERIES RESULTS
The Warhawks opened Gulf South Conference action last weekend against West Alabama, dropping the first two games of the series before responding with a 2-1 victory in the finale to avoid the sweep. After falling in a pair of tightly contested matchups, AUM showed resilience in game three, leaning on timely hitting and composed pitching to secure the win and close the weekend on a strong note.

WARHAWKS IN COMMAND
Through the opening stretch of the season, AUM has established itself as one of the most complete teams in the Gulf South Conference, powered by dominant pitching and disciplined situational play. The Warhawks lead the league with a 1.57 team ERA, setting the tone in the circle week after week. Chelisa Newcome ranks sixth in the GSC with a 1.63 ERA and 40 strikeouts, while
Reese Cauley owns a 2.04 ERA, limits opponents to a .193 batting average, and is tied for third in the conference with six wins. Together, the duo has anchored a staff that consistently keeps AUM in position to win.
Â
Offensively, the Warhawks have paired timely power with an aggressive presence on the base paths.
Karris Rhine is tied for seventh in the league with four home runs and has also swiped 11 bases, ranking among the conference leaders.
Chloe Baynes is tied for the GSC lead with 14 stolen bases and ranks among the top eight in walks drawn, while
Gabbi Barnowsky has added 11 stolen bases of her own. That balance of speed, patience, and pitching has positioned AUM as one of the top teams in both the conference and the national landscape.
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will hit the road next weekend for a GSC series against the Lee Flames in Cleveland, Tenn. Friday's single game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
