MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks men's basketball team (5-23, GSC: 3-19) competed in its final game of the 2025-26 season, falling 97-84 to the West Florida Argos (22-8, GSC: 15-7) on Friday night from the AUM Athletics Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The contest began with strong defense from both sides with neither side adding a field goal until
Elhadji Thiam made a layup at 17:24. West Florida tied up the score at 5-5, however,
Ti'Avian Scruggs added a three and
Jamarious Martin followed with a pair of three-point daggers to hold a 14-9 lead for the Warhawks.
After the under 12-minute media timeout, the Argo's evened the score at 18 points apiece. The team's exchanged points over the next four minutes with Martin knocking down his third and fourth threes of the night to give AUM a one-point lead at 26-25.
A tie at 28-28 was broken by
Jacob St. Clair who nailed a contested trey to keep the orange and black in front. A three from the visitors tied the score once again, but the Warhawks found some momentum after
Max Ogbalet-Ndiaye splashed a triple and went on to score nine of the next 10 points, gaining a 40-32 advantage.
Before the clock expired, the Argos added 11 points while Thiam countered with four of his own. The first half came to a close with the Warhawks leading 44-43.
Second Half
The Argos opened the second half with a 9-4 run, taking a 52-48 lead. The Warhawks responded with seven of the next 10 points to even the score at 55-55.
The next eight points went to the visitors, however, three points from
Omar Zeigler and a Martin trey helped the orange and black cut the difference to 67-63.
West Florida continued to push ahead, taking 21 of the next 28 points to bring its lead to 88-70
Despite AUM's late efforts, West Florida would go on to secure a 97-84 win over the Warhawks.
