AUM Falls in Season Finale to West Alabama Argonauts

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team closed out its 2025–26 season Friday night at the AUM Athletics Complex, falling 78–71 to West Florida (18-11; GCS: 13-9). The Warhawks finished the year 3–25 overall and 3–19 in GSC play. 

First Quarter 
Tamora Brown opened the scoring with a steal and layup, giving the Warhawks the first points of the game. Samya Brooks followed with a jumper off an assist from Andie Flatgard before adding a layup to keep the offense rolling. Brown knocked down another basket and recorded her third steal of the quarter, leading to a score from Flatgard as AUM took a 10–7 lead. Ameyah Gray went to the free-throw line and converted both attempts, and Brown added a late layup to close the period. AUM held a 14–13 advantage at the end of the first quarter. 

Second Quarter 
The Warhawks opened the second quarter strong, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line behind Brown and Brooks. Gray added a layup to tie the game at 20–20 before converting a free throw to give AUM the lead. 

Brooks followed with two layups, bringing her total to six points in the quarter. Shelby McAlister scored her first points of the game on a jumper off an assist from Flatgard, who later knocked down a three-pointer to keep the momentum going. Gray went 2-for-2 at the line, Brown added a jumper, and Nevaeh Small converted both of her free-throw attempts as the Warhawks carried a 36–34 lead into halftime. 

Third Quarter 
Brown opened the second half with a layup before assisting on a Brooks basket to tie the game at 40–40. Brown then went 2-for-2 at the free-throw line to keep AUM in front. Toney knocked down a three-pointer from the corner off Brown's third assist of the game, and Brooks added another layup to continue her strong night. After securing a defensive rebound, Toney found Brooks again for her 16th points of the contest as AUM took a 49–48 lead. Brooks and Flatgard each went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line late in the quarter, but the Warhawks trailed 54–51 heading into the final period of the season. 

Fourth Quarter 
Brooks opened the final quarter with a layup off a Brown assist, and Flatgard followed with a layup as AUM trimmed the deficit to 61–55. Brown added another layup and converted the and-one opportunity at the free-throw line to keep the Warhawks within reach. Flatgard knocked down her second three-pointer of the game, and Brown later went 2-for-2 at the line. Toney connected on her second three of the night off Brown's fifth assist, cutting the deficit to 71–61. 

Brooks secured an offensive rebound and converted inside, and Toney added another basket to bring AUM within three, 73–70, with 1:44 remaining. Toney later went to the free-throw line, knocking down one attempt to score the final point of the season for the Warhawks. 

AUM fell 78–71 in the season finale. 

Notables 
Samya Brooks led AUM with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting. She has started in every game this season except one. 

Tamora Brown finished with 19 points, five assists, and four steals. 

Andie Flatgard recorded 11 points, knocking down two three-pointers. She has now made at least one three-pointer in six consecutive games and has 53 made threes on the season. 

Jaden Toney added nine points and four assists, connecting on two three-pointers. She made her 10th three-pointer of the season. 

AUM scored 32 points in the paint, and the bench contributed 18 points. 

The Warhawks shot 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the free-throw line. 

AUM shot 51.1 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three. 

The Warhawks forced 19 turnovers and recorded 11 steals.
